About VGF Analysis
VGF analysis is not in itself a scientific theory. The method is based on the mathematical representation of the generic structural evolution of the VGF - the vast generative field of evolving closure in infinite iteration.
The approach allows a morphological unification of the structural analysis of temporal evolutions by postulating the VGF as the root morphology and calibrating through the scientific analysis of its application to known evolutions.
Whilst the analysis method is not itself a proposed formal scientific theory, it may still be treated as an "open theory" and possibly closed into specific, testable scientific propositions. Most importantly, however, scientific success would not establish the VGF as an intelligence-independent machinery of nature.
A successful model may disclose a useful structural relation in some particular part of science. Failure must still count against the particular scientific claim. But overall, the purpose of the analysis is reflexive: to show the relation between what science discovers and the structure of the evolutionary symbolic intelligence through which discovery occurs.
We can show conceptually how the structural evolution of the VGF can evolve into temporal evolution. The analysis can initially be applied to standard scientific cosmology in order to contextualise the VGF in that context. A major calibration of the model is made by applying the analysis to quantum decoherence theory. We can show that quantum decoherence theory is mathematically a concrete example of VGF decoherence.
Quantum decoherence theory itself shows how the objectivity of the classical world in which we live is the result of quantum decoherence. Quantum decoherence finishes with the arrival at the classical world. VGF analysis goes further. The evolution of the VGF is itself a process of VGF decoherence. VGF decoherence continues on, as an ongoing principle in the classical world itself.
VGF analysis can then be applied to temporal evolutions in general, making their VGF structural dynamics visible. The analysis can therefore be used as an interpretation framework for comparing temporal evolution phenomena in different domains of scientific knowledge, including the evolution of the species, the evolution of intelligence, social and cultural evolutions, the evolution of civilisations, and artificial intelligence.
The approach can also be directed towards understanding the relation between the scientific register of human knowledge and the phenomenological register of human experience. In other words, it can be used to address the question of the evolution of conscious phenomenology.
Unlike approaches to the relation between consciousness and the brain that are "material phenomena first", "consciousness first", or "quantum consciousness" strategies, VGF analysis does not begin by proposing anything about consciousness-as-such, or its origins.
Rather, in application to the question of consciousness VGF analysis begins by accepting human consciousness de facto, and then provides the possibility of paradigm shift - not necessarily for scientific theory itself, although this is always possible - but in the approach and method of understanding itself.
A key feature of VGF analysis is the deliberate avoidance of register collapse. That is, in the question of consciousness it avoids collapsing the registers of science and phenomenology in the process of addressing the relation between the two registers.
The framework avoids this by keeping the registers separate, but nonetheless connectable. So VGF analysis can be used in application to natural evolution, neuroscience, ordinary phenomenology, psychedelic phenomenology, and spiritual phenomenology.
