Virgin Water is in a naive, cartoon-like style, and plays on the ideas of place, alignment, inner and outer, and reflection. As the observer, we are poised, ready to take the plunge into the inviting, undisturbed, pristine perfection of the water. But it is an unknown pool with a hidden story. The singing bowl on the pedestal is silent, and the cat sleeps peacefully beside the pool as the setting sun moves into a central alignment. In the still water of the pool is the reflection of the reflection of the sun in the outer water of the lake beyond. The outer scene is reflected in the inner world of the pool. Nothing is happening. But only for now.
